Ryan MacIvor Named General Manager of Mosaic Place as Spectra Takes Over Venue Management
Industry Vet Brings 19 Years Experience to Moose Jaw’s Premier Arena
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan (September 24, 2019) — Spectra, the largest private management company in Canada, has appointed Ryan MacIvor as general manager to lead venue operations at Mosaic Place. The company, which operates 25 venues across Canada, began its management contract at the 4,500-seat arena in Moose Jaw on September 3.
MacIvor will oversee all aspects of the facility’s daily operations, including contract negotiations, event booking, financial planning, and marketing initiatives. He will work closely with the Western Hockey League’s Moose Jaw Warriors, the building’s main tenant, and manage all ice hockey and curling events.
“Spectra manages venues across the country, from the east coast to the west,” MacIvor said, “and we look forward to positioning Moose Jaw at the epicenter of Canada’s central corridor. We want the region to be a hub for world-class sports and entertainment—as well as host to an abundance of community events—and look forward to training our employees to deliver an excellent guest experience.”
Previously, MacIvor was Spectra’s general manager at the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, which regularly hosts concerts, motorsports, and family shows. While there, he secured an historic five-year hosting partnership with Hockey Canada, and was one of 12 people in the country that sat on Hockey Canada’s National Task force for Events. Simultaneously, he oversaw Tourism Dawson Creek, the city’s destination management organization, and was responsible for the Visitor Centre operations, the Sports and Events Office, and an attraction called the Alaska Highway House.
“With Ryan at the helm, Spectra will position Moose Jaw as a must-stop destination for sports and entertainment,” Moose Jaw Mayor Fraser Tolmie said. “Our new partner brings considerable resources to the table: strong relationships with promoters, business intelligence, streamlined policies and procedures, next-level customer service, and a network of professionals across North America to help train and support our employees. We look forward to optimizing our operations and restoring vibrancy to our cherished venue.”
Dean Clarke, Spectra’s regional vice president who oversees Canada, added: “Ryan is one of Spectra’s top general managers. He is dedicated not only to the success of the venue, but also to the success of each employee. He won’t relent until Mosaic Place is once again recognized as one of the best venues in Saskatchewan.”
Spectra operates 182 venues across North America, with 25 located in Canada.
